In the winter of 2022, my mom passed away suddenly and I hurried back to China to be by my dad’s side. During my short stay, my father left us at his turn to be by his beloved wife’s in the great void. As I took inventory of their belongings, I stumbled upon a treasure trove of their artwork – hundreds of watercolors, sketches, oil paintings, and designs created by them. Most of these creations were from the 1950s, hidden from human eyes for over 6 decades. This treasure chest of artwork brought back fond memories of my earlier years as a child. I knew at that instant that I had to proliferate their memory and share their legacy with the whole world. At that precise moment, the Dada Art project came into existence. I registered the trademark, with the help of my eldest son and the website became possible with the talent of my youngest one who also helped me create the videos. It became a family affair and an homage to my parents who lived secluded lives away from any outside influences for most of their lives.

My parents were from Kunming, Yunnan, a city surrounded by breathtaking mountains in southwest China, known as Shangri-La. Both graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1953 under the guidance of the renowned color master, Mr. Li You Xing who honored their artistic skills. My father expressed his free and open artistic style through captivating landscapes, while my mother had an appetite for floral art.

One must know that my mom faced numerous hardships in her life, from living in poverty during China’s liberation to surviving the challenges of the cultural revolution and emerging as a testament to resilience, learning to paint with her left hand after her right hand had been disabled by unjust tyranny.

In closing, I wish to share a conversation I had with my 14-year-old son when he asked about the benefits of making website, I said “When you sow melons in spring, you’ll harvest melons in autumn. If you sow beans, you’ll only get beans. But when you sow beauty, you’ll surely reap beauty. You just don’t know when and how it will be come back to you, and that’s what makes it interesting and fun!”

This Dada Art journey is about honoring my parents’ legacy and preserving the Chinese culture for future generations. It symbolizes the power of art to heal, to inspire, and to connect all generations and all cultures. As we curate and share these timeless artworks, we hope to spread the beauty of art and the profound emotions behind each stroke and assist you in achieving your dream artistic living space with our fine art reproductions and service. Thank you for being a part of this artistic adventure, and together, let us appreciate and cherish the beauty that lies within every creation and celebrate the indomitable human spirit through art.

Thank you.
